Engagements Teaching Assistant, University of Virginia, Fall 2018, Spring 2019.
A year-long pilot program for UVA’s innovative new first-year core curriculum, called the Engagements. This program fosters deep student engagement with the liberal arts, and aims to stimulate integration of student learning not only across disciplines but holistically in students’ lives, calling upon them to see themselves not merely as career-seekers, but as engaged citizens with a sense of vocation. My experience in the Engagements program has been leading three discussion sections a week based around the subject of aesthetics, which has honed my ability to facilitate integrative learning, and provide the best possible liberal arts education to produce vocationally-oriented global citizens.
